Fijian 7s star and Olympic silver medallist Ponipate Loganimasi is the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s latest star signing ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific. Loganimasi joins his Paris Olympics teammates, Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada, in the Drua men’s squad.

The 26-year-old impressed the national rugby scene when he scored two tries in the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan. His debut came when he replaced Ravutaumada, who had been injured early in the tournament. The speedster from Ono-i-Lau, with maternal ties to Nabua in Savusavu, gained recognition during the 2023-24 World Series, where he scored 35 tries for the Fijian 7s team before securing a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

Before his rise in international rugby, Loganimasi played locally, captaining the Kombat Uluinakau team at the Nawaka 7s and appearing in the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens with the Fiji Babaas team. Known for his versatility, he plays outside back in 15s rugby.

Loganimasi told the media, “I want to thank the Lord for this opportunity… I know a lot of kids in Fiji dream about playing for the Drua team, and I am so blessed to be given the chance.”

Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson praised Loganimasi, saying, “His debut with the 15’s team was unbelievable… He’s going to be an extremely positive recruit for our club.”

Loganimasi is the fifth Flying Fijian signed during the Drua’s off-season recruitment drive, joining other international talents such as Joseva Tamani, Peni Ravai, Inia Tabuavou, and Vuate Karawalevu.
